In his first film role since Million Dollar baby; the legendary Clint Eastwood directs and stars in Gran Torino – the story of a Korean War veteran who has to confront his predjudices after the death of his wife.
Walt Kowalski’s neighbourhood has changed and he is now surrounded by Hmong immigrants, from Southeast Asia. After local gang-bangers convince his teenage neighbour to steal his prized ‘72 Gran Torino car; Walt eventually strikes up an unlikely friendship with the family and the boy.
Walt then becomes a hero in the Hmong community by standing up for the family against the local gangs.
Our Verdict on Gran Torino
I was looking forward to this film immensely as I have been a Clint Eastwood for many years and I wasn’t dissapointed. I thought the film was great!
If this is Clints final on-screen performance at the grand old age of 79; then it’s a wonderfull movie to end his career.
Some wonderful acting from Clint and some great humour make this a must watch DVD – especially for Eastwood fans! Loved the dialogue, acting and that the powerful storyline! 4/5 stars!
