Sean Penn stars in this riveting biopic about California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk.
The story starts in 1972 as Milk opens a camera store in San Fransisco’s Castro district with boyfriend Scott. From there Milk starts his inspirational journey to become San Francisco Supervisor; fighting discrimination and predjudice along the way.
Milk then battles against Proposition 6; a law which denies equal rights to homosexuals which leads to his assasination along with Mayor George Moscone.
Our Verdict on Milk DVD
I had not heard of Harvey Milk before seeing this film; but an amazing portrayal of the man by Sean Penn makes you want to find out more. Milk’s courage and never say die mentality was inspirational to so many people around him and this comes through well in the film.
Milk is a powerful film about a character and part of history that many of us will know nothing about; a must see film which gives you a great insight into 1970’s America and its politics.
