This Weeks New DVD Releases: 2nd November 2009

My favourite film on DVD this week is Last Chance Harvey.

New Yorker Harvey Shine (played by one of my favourite actors Dustin Hoffman) is a jingle writer on the verge of being sacked. After being given his final warning he jets off to London for his daughters wedding. After missing his flight back he is fired on the spot!

Harvey drowns his sorrows and meets Kate (Emma Thompson) and they strike up a relationship which transforms their lives.

Thompson and Hoffman both put in great performances in this modern romance drama. If you love your romance like I do… this is an excellent DVD!

Year One

Jack Black and Michael Cera star in this comedy DVD. When the pair of Neanderthals are exiled from their primitive village, they embark on an epic comedy adventure through the ancient world.

Plenty of laughs but it’s not one of Blacks best movies!

Santa Buddies

One for the kiddies…. Disney’s talking puppies return in this wonderful festive adventure. Take a trip to the North Pole with your favourite canine friends.

A must watch DVD for the family over the Christmas holidays!

Peep Show – Series 6 DVD

One of my favourite comedies of all time. Mitchell and Webb are pure comedy geniuses!

Mark and Jeremy are sharing a flat in post-credit crunch Croydon; the pair are struggling to come to terms with the fact that one of them may be the father to Sophie’s baby. Who will be the father? How will this effect Mark’s pursuit of Dobby? Will the baby interfere with Jeremy’s plans to bed his dope-dealing dream woman?

Find out in this excellent DVD.
