New DVD Releases : 9th November 2009

Getting ready early for the run-up to Christmas; several of my favourite UK comedians have released DVD’s this week. Perfect stocking fillers for friends and family or DVD rentals for your own pleasure.

Mock the week favourite Russell Howard’s releases footage from his “Dingledodies” tour. The outrageous Russell Brand sell-out O2 gigs are available and Johhny Vegas is live at the Benidorm palace.

Another couple of DVD’s to have you in stitches are Mock The Week – Too Hot for TV 2 and Harry Hills hilarious TV Burp Gold 2. Whatever tickles your fancy; you won’t go short of a laugh or two this week.

The Informers

Some big names star in this tale of 1980’s Los Angeles. Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke feature in the thriller/drama.

The film balances a wide array of characters, representing the top of the pile (Hollywood dream merchants, dissolute rock stars, ageing newscasters) and the bottom (voyeuristic doormen, amoral ex-cons). Connecting all these strands are the quintessential Brett Easton Ellis protagonists — beautiful, blonde, young men and women who sleep all day and party all night, doing drugs — and one another without realising they are dancing on the edge of a volcano.
