Tom Cruise takes the lead role in this historical thriller set at the height of World War Two. Based on a true story, Cruise plays the part of Count Claus von Stauffenber; a Lieutenant Colonel in the German army who is disillusioned with Hitler’s evil war campaign.
After losing a hand and eye during an allied bombing raid, Claus von Stauffenber returns to Germany and joins a group of like-minded individuals who are determined to end Hitler’s reign of terror.
Stauffenber and his associates set out to assassinate Hitler and take over the running of the country; so that Germany can make peace with the allies.
Our Verdict on Valkyrie DVD
Historical fiction is one of my favorite movie types so I was looking forward to watching this film and I wasn’t disappointed. Although I knew the outcome of the film before it started I found Valkyrie to be a very enjoyable film.
The film was packed with tension from the start and I found myself convinced that Stauffenber and his friend’s assassination plans would succeed.
Valkyrie is a great DVD and is an excellent watch; especially if you haven’t heard the story before. Valkyrie is an amazing part of history which make the DVD an intense and compelling film.
I have rated the Valkyrie DVD as 4/5.
